Summer Amphitheatre
UART Amphitheatre is a multifunctional space whose main aim is to fulfill the student teaching program of this institution. This Amphitheatre is situated in an open environment in the North-East side of UART building, bordered by the Presidency building of Albania Republic, "Mother Teresa" Square and UART Rectorate.
The amphitheater was built in 2007-2008, and has a capacity of 501 seats and a fairly completed infrastructure that allows installation of lighting and audio-visual equipments. Its slightly detached position from the rest of the UART building, placed at an optimal distance from teaching classrooms and offices, makes this area ideal for the development of a great variety of activities. This amphitheater can be used every day of the year but as it is exposed to atmospheric agents, the most appropriate period would be March-April until October-November.
Construction itself, its label and acoustics, suggests as for primary use stage, activities such as theater, ballet, opera and concert events. This environment can also be used as an exponent for different needs of plastic artists including painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and other possible installations. Another utilization would be as a multimedia environment for films projection or other different kind of works of this category.
This amphitheater has successfully been tested as the only functional summer cinema in the city of Tirana. Furthermore, this space can be used as a hall for lectures, seminars, workshops and open learning hours.
It is very important to mention that University of Arts has a very busy agenda of activities not only academic but also administrative and institutional ones. In this context, the amphitheater could as well serve as a supplementary to the administrative needs of the institution such as open meetings, appointments and festive commemoration ceremonies. Also, as mentioned above, as the amphitheater is somewhat distant from the rest of the building, and self-contained, it is at any time an excellent promotional space, because no matter how big the influx of visitors would be it will not influence the progress of learning process, even in the busiest periods.
All traits mentioned above, give another asset to the UART Amphitheatre which is its usage by third parties, including the full range of possibilities mentioned above.
